When we were approached by Doris Stutley, a well-known Western Australian writer of young adult fiction, we recognised immediately that we were dealing with an author who had done her research. The first book in Doris’s Operation Series had been through a previous edition, courtesy of a company whose name we need not mention here, but this time Doris intended to make sure she would receive a product equal to any from a mainstream publisher.
The problems Doris had experienced with her previous supplier were many, and she was unhappy with both the editing and production of her first book. The cover design was rather ordinary, and there was even a glaring ‘typo’ on the back cover! This time, that first book would be republished under Doris’s new Bushytail Books logo, as would the next three books she had written for the series; and the design, typesetting and printing would be handled by a company experienced in servicing the commercial publishing industry: Sunset Digital (now Sunset Publishing Services).
Over the following months, we produced the current four titles in the series, a Bushytail Books website, and the covers for the next two titles, which will be released in 2011 and 2012.
